A year of recording every swim in the North Sea is now complete. Preparations will soon begin for an exhibition of the photographs and paintings. Although Sea Chronicle has come full circle, swimming most days will continue. I have been both surprised and moved by the effect the sea has had on me, and the sense of connection that has grown throughout the past twelve months - a relationship that has been formed not just through swimming on pleasant, calm warm days, but through dark, turbulent and often frightening days, when the sea bares its teeth like a dog warning you to keep your distance. I now realize the sea is indeed a living organism with its own character and full spectrum of moods, and has grown to be a tender, yet potentially deadly companion.
